Valentia: Skin Detoxifying Mask

Valentia was kind enough to send me another new sample! This time, it’s a detoxifying clay mask. You can purchase it from Amazon or directly from their site, Valentia.  It’s currently on sale for $25 only!

I really love the company’s products. If you guys haven’t seen my previous reviews, their products are always made with natural and organic ingredients.  They are also vegan, cruelty-free, and made in the USA.

Also, they are going to have a really good promotion starting from May 16, 2016 to June 1, 2016, they are offering 35% OFF the entire line on  Make sure to use the coupon code, REFRESH35.

Back to review, here’s what it claims to do:

  • Clay minerals draw impurities, improve skin tone, and tighten pores for smoother firmer skin.
  • Plant Stem Cells help naturally decreases the level of pro-aging toxins and works to soother the skin, reduce redness, and improve evenness.
  • Spirulina is a botanical stimulant full of vitamins that hydrates the skins surface and contributes to tissue regeneration of the skin.
  • CoQ10 helps lessens the appearance of wrinkles by reducing free radical damage and stimulating health collagen production.
  • Hibiscus & Cranberry Fibers both lend their anti-aging properties to firm and reinforce the skin, helping to reduce the creation of new wrinkles.

The Final Verdict:

I give it a 5/5! I love the smell.  It smells fruity due to the hibiscus and cranberry, but not too overwhelming.  However, if you are sensitive to smell, this might not be for you.  I followed the directions and put a pretty even layer all around my face avoiding the eye area as instructed.  I didn’t do a thick layer but not too thin either.  It did tingle at first but it went away right away.  The mask dried super quick like in 3 minutes.  Automatically, my face felt tight. After 20 minutes, I washed it off using my muslin cloth in circular motion.  Parts of face at one time, not the whole face at once.  I noticed right away that my redness were practically gone and my skin just looked a brighter and firm.  It was also hydrating and soft as it claims!  I’m not too sure collagen production but it really did work wonders for just a one time use. I highly recommend!  Thanks Valencia as always!

MAKE Beauty Review.

Hi everyone! Thanks to Brandbacker, MAKE Beauty sent me two samples to try out and review.

Here’s a little background information about the brand, MAKE beauty:

MAKE is a brand that finds beauty in inspiration. A brand that believes there are no beauty rules. That each individual is driven by an artistic approach to their own personal reality. That it’s beautiful to be inspired by your imagination. To embrace a whimisical approach to life. To be outspoken, intelligent, confident and un-self conscious.

Each year MAKE selects a resident makeup artist to collaborate with an expert artisan and creative outside of the beauty industry to inspire MAKE color palettes and create limited-edition concept collections.

MAKE is made in our hometown, NYC. It is paraben-free and never tested on animals.

A percentage of sales is donated to our non-profit partner, We See Beauty Foundation, supporting women-led, worker-owned cooperative businesses across the Americas.

They sent me two items: Silk Cream Lipstick in the color Taffy and Matte Finish Eyeshadow in the color Alabaster.

Silk Cream Lipstick – Taffy ($25)

It claims to do the following:

Vivid, saturated color that does double duty as a protective moisturizing treatment with antioxidant vitamins, rosehip, soybean and safflower oils. Aloe and chamomile extracts further condition lips. Feather-resistant and intensely pigmented in true-wear shades.

The Final Verdict: The price is a bit average.  The color reminds me of the Laffy Taffy candy from Willy Wonka in the color strawberry but more vibrant.  I don’t even know if the kids nowadays still eat it! For those who never had that candy, the color is a like berry pink.  It’s very creamy and glides on easily.  It’s also very pigmented.  It has a bit of a sheen to it but not so much like a gloss.  I think the lipstick really does what it claims.  It’s very moisturizing. Because it’s not a matte lipstick, it will transfer when eating though. 5/5

Matte Finish Eyeshadow – Alabaster ($25)

It claims to do the following:

Turn heads with this stunning, intensely pigmented shadow in an array of blendable shades. The velvety matte powder goes on smoothly with a crease-resistant, oil-free formula that looks fresh for hours after you’ve applied it. Vitamins C and E help to provide antioxidant protection for the delicate eye area. Apply dry or wet for a more intense finish.

The Final Verdict: Price-wise, it’s a bit on the higher-end for just one color.  I can’t give you an accurate review about the pigmentation because the color they sent for review was a very nude basic color.  I think it would be good for a more natural no-makeup look.  It is definitely blendable and to get the nude to show more on my very fair skin, I just kept layering more.  I’ve had it on for about 5 hours and there’s no sign of creasing.  However, it has faded a lot.  Note that I didn’t use eye primer because I really wanted to test the staying power. I do like the consistency of the powder though.  Even though it’s a powder, it does feel kind of creamy.  I think if you applied it wet, it would have a better staying power. Personally, I think there are other brands for eyeshadows that have a much longer staying power. (3/5)

I really like that their brand doesn’t test on animals and is hyperallergenic.  I would like to try more of their stuff in the future!  They also provided a coupon code for my readers.

Enjoy a special 20% off sitewide on with the code MAKEYOURSELF, valid through 3/1-4/15.

OZ Naturals: Super Youth Retinol Moisturizer Review

OZ Natural was kind enough to send me a sample of their Super Youth Retinol Moisturizer.

Here’s some background on the company!

Co-Founder and Certified Esthetician, Angela Irish launched OZ Naturals as a company that embodies everything she’s passionate about — healthy skin, anti-aging, natural ingredients, and utilizing the latest technology to formulate the highest quality skin care products on the market.

Utilizing her personal experience of skin issues, that she understands that when your skin is unhealthy it can negatively affect your self-esteem. After try tons of products over the years she was always left with the same skin issues as before.

Sometimes even worse than before. Angela knows how disheartening this can be, especially when so many skin care products make huge claims, and simply do not deliver. It’s especially frustrating when the cost of those products are hardly affordable, and you realize once again that you’ve wasted your money.

While it’s true that beautiful skin is also hereditary, healthy skin comes from taking care of the inside and outside of our bodies. However, finding the right products for your skin can be the toughest part of the equation. This is why OZ Naturals was founded, to create healthy, premium skin care products to help those who weren’t naturally born with perfect skin, to obtain more perfect skin. The kind of skin that everyone deserves to have.

The moisturizer claims to do the following:

  • Clinical Strength in Anti-wrinkles
  • Anti-aging
  • Nourish skin
  • Paraben-free
  • Free from “Harmful” Alcohol
  • Cruelty-free
  • For all skin types

It’s a pretty balanced consistency between liquid and cream.

The Verdict

I’m only in my mid-twenties so I’m not at the stage where I need to worry about fine lines and wrinkles.  I’m still at the preventive stage where I’m trying to prevent any damage and wrinkles.  Thus, my review isn’t entirely a good review.  This product is probably geared towards more middle aged women.

However, for the moisturizing aspect of it, I would give it a solid 4/5.

Be careful when you use any product that has Retinol  because you need to have good sunscreen protection if you are using it during the day.  If you use any product with Retinol, it can cause more harm to your skin because your skin is actually more vulnerable.

I’ve only used this at night after cleaning my face.

I don’t get any irritation or break outs from this product either.

I would recommend that you take the time to check out the list of ingredients and other reviews before making a commitment to use this product.  I do feel that it’s a really good moisturizer though.

Valentia: Royal Rose Hydrating Serum

Valentia was kind enough to send me another item to review!  Last time I reviewed the eye serum and hydration mask, which you can view here if you haven’t yet.  I still highly recommend the eye cream!  It works like magic!

According to Valentia, the Royal Rose Hydrating Serum is “a lightweight serum that boosts moisture and resilience while soothing and calming the skin.”

Stock photo from Amazon

It claims to do the following:
– Deeply moisturize skin
– Provide antioxidant protection
– Soothe & nourish dry skin
– Smooth skin tone & texture
– Boost skin radiance

You can buy it on Amazon for $35.00.  I really like the smell.  It smells just like roses.  The texture is creamy and very hydrating as it claims.  I didn’t break out from the product but it did make my face kind of itchy.  I know it’s the product because this is the only product I’m using.  I really wanted to like it because it smelled really nice but unfortunately my skin had a mild irritation.

Romwe Dress

Hello everyone!  So lately I’ve been on the hunt for a new and longer dress.  Most of my dresses are mini length (mid-thigh) because I’m a pretty petite girl.  I’m 5″3′ so long dresses just make me look shorter and stubby with my kankle-looking legs.  I don’t have nice toned legs with nice calves.  It looks more like hot dogs to me.

I came across the site Romwe from one of my favorite Youtubers, Lilisimply.  There’s a lot cute clothes on site but beware that it is based in China so the quality can be a hit or miss.  Romwe, the site in general, is a bit of a hit or miss.

I would suggest that if you find something you like, try to search for a review on it on YouTube or blogs.  I found the dress I wanted in a review on YouTube and it looked just as pictured.  I checked the measurements for the sizes and went with a more closer fit because it’s a bodycon dress.

White Spaghetti Strap Cut Cut Dress (Link)

Romwe’s Stock Photo of dress

I’m usually a size small and got this in small.  It’s a perfect fit.  If I was going for a more flowy dress, I might be a size medium. The quality of the dress is really good but it’s still sheer.  I’d suggest white undergarments.  The back doesn’t have a cutout so you can wear a regular bra.

The shipping was just as stated. It took about two weeks from processing to shipping.

This was my first experience with Romwe and I rate it 5/5.  I know that there’s also a lot of bad reviews about the site so I would say every experience will vary.  I would stick to items that people have purchased before and have good reviews for.

Make up of the day!

Hi guys! I just wanted to share with you my makeup look for the day today.

Products used:

What’s your go-to primer and foundation?! Let me know in the comments!

February Ipsy Bag.

Hello! I’ve been receiving my Ipsy before the mid of the month and sometimes a by earlier.  I really like that the shipping has been pretty consistent.  When I saw the preview for the bag, it seemed kind of boring. Another nail polish, face exfoliator/scrub, and lip product.  It seemed a bit repetitive.  However, I definitely changed my mind when I received the bag and tried the products out.
Trust Fund – I’m Kind of a Big Deal (5/5)

It’s a beautiful rose pink.

I really love this nail polish color.  The brush picks up a bit too much product so I have to wipe it off a bit on the insides of the bottle.  It’s pretty thick too, so if you get a good amount on the brush, you’ll only need one coat.  I used only one coat on all the nails except the thumbnail which took two coats.  It’s a great color for spring!
Naked Cosmetics – Sierra Nevada

To be honest, I haven’t tested this out because I haven’t used a loose powder eyeshadow before so I don’t know how to apply use it.  It’s a very shimmery dark brown color.  It’s also too shimmery for my taste.
Best Face Forever – Exfoliating Daily Facewash (4/5)

This exfoliating face wash is supposed to be a more natural product: free from paraben, dyes, and sulfate.  It says it has peppermint, grapefruit oil, and aloe vera. It feels almost like sand when I apply it to my face.  It smells like peppermint and feels a bit minty on the face.  It’s a bit rough but it leaves my skin feeling really soft and not tight.  It’s also not drying either.  I really like this scrub but I took off one star for being so rough.  For people with sensitive skin, it could be too rough.
Vintage Sparkling Lipgloss – Pink Sequin (5/5)
I really like this lipgloss. It’s a shimmery pink.  It’s not too sticky like some lipgloss.  It gives a nice pink tint on natural lips.  I do have a bad habit of licking my lips a lot and eating my lipsticks so these didn’t last too long but they are easy to apply and retouch!

Smashbox Photo Finish Primer Oil

I’ve also haven’t tried this out but it’s actually the one item I’m really excited about.  I just haven’t got a chance to try it.  I will definitely update once I do!

Keep following for more posts!

Valentia: True Glow Eye Cream & Ultra Plumping Hydration Mask

Hi everyone!  I was lucky enough to receive samples from Valentia through BrandBacker.  I received two items to try out: the True Glow Eye Cream and Ultra Plump Hydrating Mask.

Here’s a little background on the company, itself.

The Roman Goddess of healing, Valentia, relied on nature’s gifts to heal the citizens of Umbria. Whether matriarchs seeking to maintain their youthful look or farmers seeking help for sun damaged skin, Valentia used berries, herbs, barks and other natural ingredients. We also rely on all natural ingredients due to their protective, preventative and corrective powers.

Just like our namesake, Valentia Skin Care products have been formulated with natural and organic cosmetic ingredients that will repair and protect the skin.

After performing extensive research into what skin care customers find most important, we found an overwhelming demand for skin care that is natural, free of toxins and paraben-free. Natural ingredients with an organic base have proven most effective at repairing skin damaged by sun or wind, preventing signs of aging such as wrinkles, dark spots, and reversing the effects of oxidative stress on the skin.

The great thing about their products is that they use natural ingredients and its paraben-free so I was really excited to try these products out.  Recently, I’ve been wearing some mascara and BB cream for a more natural every day look without using too many products.  At the end of the day when it’s time to wash it all off, I started noticing that my bags would look a bit darker and puffier, probably because I don’t have a proper cleansing routine.

I received the samples from Amazon and it came the next day!

Perona’s Crown WIP.

In a previous post, I talked about how I’m starting to get into cosplay! I made a DeviantArt if you guys want to see my first cosplay.  I was Neliel Tu from Bleach.   I will be posting more of my cosplay stuff on there if you guys would like to follow that adventure.

For this year, I have the structure down for most of outfit for Perona.

Perona’s crown in progress, just need to add the details.

Here’s a picture of my crown so far!  It’s made out of craft foam, acrylic paint, hot glue, a bit of thread involved, and Modge Podge for sealing and priming.  It’s mostly done and I’ve even used alligator clips for attaching it onto the wig.  I just need to add the final detail which is the gold detailing from her crown.

I bought a small pack of plastic clear rhinestones.  I will need to change them to a gold color then hot glue it on.  I’m still considering which method will look better.  I might just spray paint the whole stone in gold.  Or I might take off the backing if any then paint the bottom gold only.  I’m not sure which one would look better on the crown so I’ll be playing with one of each.

I’ve made the cape but it’s only the structure so far.  I need to finish making her collar and hem the lines before adding the white soft border trims.

For the skirt, it’s taking me a while to figure out what method I should go about making her scallops.  I want to be accurate but her scallops were making it hard to do so.  However, I finally think I’ve found a good way to do the scallops without needing to hem it because I really suck at hemming those scallops.

I still need to make her belt but I’ve got the materials for it already. For her boots, I have my red rain boots.  Although, not completely accurate on that part.. It will have to do.

I need to style the bangs for my wig but I’ve been saving that for later when my hair pins finally come in so that I can properly put my hair up to adjust the wig to fit my head correctly.  Right now, it’s a bit big circumference-wise.  It’s a chibi Arda wig which is known to be big.

Thanks for reading!

Miss Manga Mascara and Loreal True Match Foundation.

Yesterday I was at Target doing errands like buying food and the usual stuff.  Of course I had to stop by the cosmetic aisle with my friend! I heard really good reviews about the Miss Manga mascara so I definitely wanted to try that out.  I was also curious to try the True Match foundations.

Miss Manga’s brush.

After one layer of foundation and two coats of mascara.. I really did not like the way the foundation looked.  It did not make my skin look better or even the same.  It just made me look pretty cakey as you can see from the picture.  It especially shows around the eye area and clings to any dry spots.  The mascara, however, is really good.  It definitely defines my curled lashes.  However, it just didn’t give me as much volume as I was hoping so I tried adding another coat of the mascara I’ve been using, Loreal Voluminous Carbon Black.  Paired up together, they really made a difference!

Pairing up both mascaras!

The cakey texture is a bit more obvious after it sets:

I think I found my new combo for my lashes.  The foundation will be going back sadly.  I currently use the Misha M Perfect Cover BB Cream in the color honey beige.  It’s matches my skin tone perfectly and I’ve worn it all day many times.  Even after a long day, it still looks good.  It’s an Asian brand and not that expensive if you order off Amazon.  It’s just slightly darker than my natural skin tone but it just looks like if I tanned a little, that would be the color.
Let me know if you guys want pictures of the BB Cream.

Please like, follow, and share if you guys found this useful!
