Hi everyone! Thanks to Brandbacker, MAKE Beauty sent me two samples to try out and review.
Here’s a little background information about the brand, MAKE beauty:
MAKE is a brand that finds beauty in inspiration. A brand that believes there are no beauty rules. That each individual is driven by an artistic approach to their own personal reality. That it’s beautiful to be inspired by your imagination. To embrace a whimisical approach to life. To be outspoken, intelligent, confident and un-self conscious.
Each year MAKE selects a resident makeup artist to collaborate with an expert artisan and creative outside of the beauty industry to inspire MAKE color palettes and create limited-edition concept collections.
MAKE is made in our hometown, NYC. It is paraben-free and never tested on animals.
A percentage of sales is donated to our non-profit partner, We See Beauty Foundation, supporting women-led, worker-owned cooperative businesses across the Americas.
They sent me two items: Silk Cream Lipstick in the color Taffy and Matte Finish Eyeshadow in the color Alabaster.
It claims to do the following:
Vivid, saturated color that does double duty as a protective moisturizing treatment with antioxidant vitamins, rosehip, soybean and safflower oils. Aloe and chamomile extracts further condition lips. Feather-resistant and intensely pigmented in true-wear shades.
The Final Verdict: The price is a bit average. The color reminds me of the Laffy Taffy candy from Willy Wonka in the color strawberry but more vibrant. I don’t even know if the kids nowadays still eat it! For those who never had that candy, the color is a like berry pink. It’s very creamy and glides on easily. It’s also very pigmented. It has a bit of a sheen to it but not so much like a gloss. I think the lipstick really does what it claims. It’s very moisturizing. Because it’s not a matte lipstick, it will transfer when eating though. 5/5
It claims to do the following:
Turn heads with this stunning, intensely pigmented shadow in an array of blendable shades. The velvety matte powder goes on smoothly with a crease-resistant, oil-free formula that looks fresh for hours after you’ve applied it. Vitamins C and E help to provide antioxidant protection for the delicate eye area. Apply dry or wet for a more intense finish.
The Final Verdict: Price-wise, it’s a bit on the higher-end for just one color. I can’t give you an accurate review about the pigmentation because the color they sent for review was a very nude basic color. I think it would be good for a more natural no-makeup look. It is definitely blendable and to get the nude to show more on my very fair skin, I just kept layering more. I’ve had it on for about 5 hours and there’s no sign of creasing. However, it has faded a lot. Note that I didn’t use eye primer because I really wanted to test the staying power. I do like the consistency of the powder though. Even though it’s a powder, it does feel kind of creamy. I think if you applied it wet, it would have a better staying power. Personally, I think there are other brands for eyeshadows that have a much longer staying power. (3/5)
I really like that their brand doesn’t test on animals and is hyperallergenic. I would like to try more of their stuff in the future! They also provided a coupon code for my readers.
